Valentine’s Day isn’t just for Feb. 14 at the Miramonte Resort & Spa in Indian Wells, Calif.. The 215-room resort is celebrating Valentine’s Day all this month with packages “Romance in the Desert’’ featuring two 60-minute spa treatments at its famed The Well spa, and “Relax & Reconnect’’ that includes a rose pedal turndown and breakfast in bed for two.
With its Mediterranean flavor, which blends well in the desert, the Miramonte Resort & Spa specializes in romantic getaways, not only in February but every month of the year.
“We deal more with the couples travelers,’’ said Chris Kandziora, the resort’s director of sales and marketing. “We center that around a lot of different activities. Of course we have couples massages but we also have couples yoga and other things like cooking class for couples.
“So instead of just a Valentine’s Day special, we thought we’d take the entire 28 days and create a special program around that. It’s called ’28 Days of Love’’ and we offer a variety of different thing for couples to do’’
Most appealing is the fact that the packages don’t tie down couples to one specific weekend in February.
“Everybody goes out on Valentine’s Day, for example, and the restaurants are packed,’’ Kandziora said. “But our menu goes through the whole month, so you don’t have to fight the crowds. We’ve found that our restaurant does well the whole month and people aren’t just celebrating on the 14th.’’
Perhaps best of all, given the cold winter weather that is blanketing most of the country, the warm desert winter is a great escape.
“The weather really is perfect in the month of February,’’ said Kandziora. “Actually January through March is just ideal. You can eat outside and look at the mountains. The views are spectacular. And at night we have candles, so wherever you’re walking throughout the property there are candles. Just the allure of the property in the month of February is spectacular.’’
