Beauty Tips That You Can Do at Home

Not everyone has the time or money to always look their best. Many products today also contain chemicals that may not be healthy or necessary. Luckily, there are many natural alternatives you can use that are inexpensive and easily found in your own home. It also doesn’t take much time to take care of yourself with these beauty tips.

    Exfoliate

  1. Exfoliating is a procedure using a coarse substance to scrub away dead skin cells. It is important to exfoliate at least once a week. Exposure from the bacteria in air to make-up creates a layer of dead cells. An unhealthy skin looks dull and makes moisturizing and applying make-up difficult.
Left-over coffee grinds can be used as a body scrub. Shower normally and use the coarse grains to exfoliate the dead skin cells off your body. Use a circular motion and don’t forget to scrub the hands, neck and feet.
An oatmeal facial scrub made of oatmeal, hot water, baking soda and a little cinnamon, for scent, is a great exfoliate scrub and mask. Wet the face, use your fingers and apply the paste in a circular motion. Leave the mask on for five to ten minutes and rinse.

    Moisturize

  2. Olive oil is an alternative to expensive moisturizers and conditioners. Rub as much oil as needed onto your body and be sure to pay attention to the nails and feet—particularly the cuticles which can often be dry. Be sure to immediately cover your body, hands and feet with a robe, mittens and socks. By covering the body, the olive oil is able to seep deeply into the pores and locking in the moisture.

    Hair Care

  3. Product build-up can leave hair limp and dull but it doesn’t require much to clean it from commercial toxins and nourish it for a healthy shine. Mix one part apple cider vinegar and two parts water for a great hair cleanser. Rub the mixture thoroughly into the hair and rinse.
Olive oil, mayonnaise and mashed avocados are all good conditioners for dry and damaged hair. They contain fatty acids. Apply one of these to the hair—paying attention to the scalp and ends. Immediately, put on a shower cap and let it set for 20 to 30 minutes. Shampoo and rinse normally.

    Make-up Care

  4. It’s essential to use clean products to prevent skin damages and avoid spreading bacteria. All make-up products have an expiration date. Do not use any product that smells or looks funny. Liquid foundation lasts four to six months and mascara lasts about four months. Clean your make-up brushes every week by using warm water and a gentle facial cleaner. Eye shadows, facial powders and blushes can be kept up to a year as long as clean brushes are used. Keep make-up in a cool, dry place.
