New Music: Drake Re-Teams With Rihanna On “Take Care” Title-Track

Oh the irony of Rihanna singing — in her most hypnotically sultry voice  — “I know you’ve been hurt by someone else” at the start of the title-track to Drake‘s new album, Take Care, since Drizzy’s told just about any reporter with a tape recorder that RiRi’s hurt him when their very brief love thing back in 2009 turned out to mean more to him than it meant to her. All the same, these two continue to make beautiful music together, and “Take Care” is no exception.
The track, which leaked tonight along with the rest of the album (DOH!), is another dose of vulnerable Drizzy as he sings and raps about a girl who’s had her heart broken and he’s pleading with her to let her guard down and let him take care of her. “Isn’t this exactly how he ended up being RiRi’s rebound in the first place?” you may be asking. Not really. On “Take Care,” Drake admits that he wants this girl badly, but actually knows he should relax a bit and let her heart heal first. “Pushing me away so I give her space/Dealing with a heart that I didn’t break,” he raps. “When you’re ready, just say you’re ready/When all the baggage just ain’t as heavy.” Lesson learned.
